Will Cambridge prepare my child to excel anywhere, in any school or country?

Cambridge International Education provides your child with a globally recognised and consistent curriculum, allowing them to move between schools and countries without disruption while continuing their studies seamlessly. It develops a strong academic foundation grounded in critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning, preparing students not just for exams but for top universities and future careers worldwide. Beyond academics, Cambridge nurtures creativity, collaboration, and global awareness, while building advanced English-language skills and intellectual confidence. By following this programme, your child gains a passport to international opportunities, ensuring both academic excellence and the flexibility to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Does Cambridge learning go beyond exams and helps develop real-life skills?

Cambridge encourages students to ask questions, explore ideas, and solve problems rather than just memorising content. Through projects, discussions, research tasks, and presentations, students develop confidence, curiosity, and independence — skills that will serve them in university and life.

How does Cambridge program progress as my child grows?

  • Early Years (ages 1–5): Focus on developing early literacy, numeracy, curiosity, social skills, and confidence. Prepares children for a smooth transition into formal primary education, with playful, inquiry-based learning.
  • Primary (Key Stage 1 and 2, ages 5–11): Builds on the Early Years foundation, strengthening literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills. Encourages curiosity, collaboration, and independent learning, preparing students for Lower Secondary (Key Stage 3).
  • Lower Secondary (Key Stage 3, ages 11–14): Academic skills expand further, with an emphasis on independent thinking, projects, and inquiry-based learning.
  • Upper Secondary (Key Stages 4–5, ages 14–18): Focus on IGCSEs, As and A Levels for university preparation, with specialised subject bundles tailored to student goals.

What are Cambridge IGCSES, AS and A Levels?

IGCSEs (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) – typically taken in Years 10–11 (ages 14–16) – are internationally recognised qualifications that give students a strong foundation across multiple subjects. They emphasise understanding, problem-solving, and practical application, rather than just memorising facts, helping students gain confidence and skills that matter for the next stage of learning.

AS Level (Advanced Subsidiary Level) – usually taken in Year 12 (ages 16–17) – is the first half of a full A Level. It allows students to specialise in subjects they are most interested in, develop independent learning, research, and critical thinking skills, and prepare gradually for university-level study.

A Levels (Years 12–13, ages 16–18) build on AS Levels and let students demonstrate depth of knowledge and mastery in chosen subjects. A Levels are widely recognised by universities worldwide and provide students with the academic credentials and confidence to pursue higher education anywhere, locally or internationally.

Does Cambridge prepare children only for foreign universities?

No. Cambridge qualifications open doors globally but also support local higher education pathways. At Brook Hill, some students choose to continue their studies at universities in Serbia, and the Cambridge diploma is officially recognised by the relevant authorities, ensuring a smooth transition to higher education locally. At the same time, the focus on transferable skills and internationally recognised qualifications allows students to adapt to any system or university worldwide, giving them maximum flexibility and opportunity for their future.

How does Cambridge support English language development?

At Brook Hill, English is the medium of instruction. Students learn academic content through English, improving fluency naturally while developing strong communication skills for future studies abroad or at home.

ADMISSIONS & ENROLMENT

How can we start the admissions process?

Begin by visiting our Admissions page at https://www.brookhill.edu.rs/admissions or contact us to schedule a visit. We accept applications year-round to accommodate flexible family needs.

Are there entrance tests?

The only entrance test currently used is an English language assessment, administered when our team believes it will help place your child in the most supportive learning group.

Can international or non-resident students apply?

Yes — international and non-resident students are welcome. Many families relocating to or from abroad use our online learning and flexible enrollment options.

Can Serbian children whose first language is Serbian apply to Brook Hill School?

Brook Hill School welcomes Serbian children whose first language is Serbian, as well as students from many other language backgrounds.

Our Cambridge-based international programme is designed for both native and non-native English speakers. Children do not need to be fluent in English when they apply. What matters most is their readiness to learn, curiosity, and willingness to engage in an English-speaking environment.

For younger children (Kindergarten and Primary School), English is acquired naturally and gradually through daily interaction, play, routines, and teacher support. In these early years, language development happens smoothly and confidently, without pressure.

For older students, we assess English only when necessary, to ensure we can provide the right level of support. Our teachers use clear instruction, scaffolding, and differentiated learning so students can follow the curriculum while their English skills grow.

With small class sizes, experienced international teachers, and school counsellors in every campus, Serbian students quickly gain confidence in English while staying academically successful.

Many of our students started with Serbian as their first language and now learn, think, and communicate confidently in English — at school and beyond.

If you would like to discuss your child’s individual situation, our admissions team is happy to help.

When is the best time to apply?

At Brook Hill, we understand that family life is dynamic, and that children’s learning opportunities shouldn’t be limited by rigid timelines. That’s why we offer year-round admissions for all age groups — from Kindergarten to Upper Secondary.

The ideal time to apply depends on your child’s age and readiness, as well as your family plans:

  • Kindergarten (ages 1–5): Applying several months before you’d like your child to start allows us to guide families through a smooth introduction, settle children into routines, and prepare teachers to give individual attention from day one.
  • Primary and Lower Secondary (ages 5–14): Early applications help secure a spot in small classes and allow teachers to tailor learning support to your child. However, we also welcome students joining mid-year — our flexible, structured approach ensures that children transition comfortably and confidently.
  • Upper Secondary (ages 14–18): Applying before the academic year begins is ideal, especially if your child wishes to enrol in specific subject bundles aligned with their university goals.
